Lyric Video:  “Basic Being Basic”

Winter 2026
The Lyric Video Project tasked students with picking a song of their choice and demonstrating their motion design skills by creating a lyric video for their chosen song. The lyric video should feel cohesive with  the song and effectively convey the feeling that the artist was trying to portray. For this project I chose ‘Basic Being Basic’ by DJO. This song is an upbeat pop/rock song that feels exciting and vibrant. For my process, I started by doing research and then moving on to creating a mood board and style frames that captured the feeling that the song gave me. After multiple iterations and critiques, I ended up with a product that I felt cohesive with the song and effectively demonstrated my motion design skills.
